Reed Pipes Renovation

St. Mary’s of Assumption Church

Very often reed pipes are the source of frustration for organists. We hear complaints about unstable tuning, faulty speech, dead notes, etc. At the root of this problem are usually dirt and oxidation/tarnishing present on inner parts of the reed pipes. Simple cleaning is not really a solution, because after the reeds and shallots are cleaned and polished, the pipes require new voicing – process that necessitates special skills and a good deal of time. If done properly however, the results are quite pleasing and improvement is eminent. Re-voicing of both flue and reed pipes is one of our areas of expertise.
